While we invite you to explore ALL of our activities, below is a description of each Activity category and soon we will list a list of the activities that are most relevant to the 2007 program. Printable pages will also be available in mid December. Try our new interactive activity: "Way To GO!" - in the Kids Room! Part 1 - "You can't fuel me" - exploring fuel sources Part 2 - "Snack Attack!" - exploring fuels for your body **Our new Related Topics this year are: Energy and Nutrition There are four categories for activities that you can do with your students before and/or after the show. We will be listing the 2007 recommendations in mid December, so stay tuned! THINKING AND TALKING (and writing!)- discussion topics on related curriculum topics, including science, literature, history, dance, cultural perspectives, and identity. Cultural Appreciation - Learning to appreciate similarities and differences between people and cultures. Climb your Family Tree - Discover the geography of your family tree, and find out what dance traditions you might have in your roots. Why and How We Dance - An exploration of human reasons to dance. MOVEMENT AND MUSIC - This category contains musical instrument information pages, plus several movement and dance activities for your classroom. Music is Math – Kathak clock - A bridge between mathematics and music, through rhythm cycles from India. Body Language - Give your students a chance to experiment with how our bodies and faces reveal our feelings, thoughts and ideas. Crossing Paths - Explore how our planned movements are influenced by the people around us. Gestures Have Special Meaning - A challenge to create a dance, using specific movements which you create to tell your own story. Rhythm Dialogues - Have conversations in rhythm, with no words! ART AND CONSTRUCTION - The activities in this category inspire students' own creations in preparation for and reflection of the show. Find Music Everywhere – Discover the music in everyday objects and make them sing! Get Ready - A drawing activity to increase awareness of how to be a great audience member! Picture Yourself... Guided imagination drawing or painting exercise, presenting YOU on stage in a dance performance. RECIPES - Yummy traditional recipes from around the world, to prepare at school or at home as a special treat. Mango Lassi (India) - A refreshing and nutritious drink! Aloo Tikki – North Indian Potato patties Beijanos de Moca (Brazil) Southern Style Sweet Potato Casserole (Southern U.S.) KIDSROOM - Activities for the kids to try online, and some to print for them!
